Unimpressed

For me it's true. I am unimpressed by a lot! I can't find the source of this quote on the internet :(

The following quote (source) from Haruki Murakami, in his book '1Q84' (2009-2010) is of a different level. It's about loss and pain. In my words and terminology: it's about learning to accept (bejahung) that nothing ever 'is' (rocksteady and eternal) and always floats and keeps on floating:

"Once you pass a certain age, life becomes nothing more than a process of continual loss. Things that are important to your life begin to slip out of your grasp, one after another, like a come losing teeth. And the only things that come to take their place are worthless imitations. Your physical strength, your hopes, your dreams, your ideals, your convictions, all meaning, or then again, the people you love: one by one, they fade away. Some announce their departure before they leave, while others just disappear all of a sudden without warning one day. And once you lose them you can never get them back. Your search for replacements never goes well. It’s all very painful – as painful as actually being cut with a knife.”

I'd Marry You in Two and I Would Wonder Sometimes

More Alive

The world is white on my spot on planet Earth. Snow! I like snow (just as I like rain, sun, drizzle, wind, clouds, fog and .. - there must be more) because it gives the world more light. It makes the world more alive.

As I wrote before (here), I would like to run a small hotel on the Mediterranean Sea but I realized that I have to be quick because in 25 million years it won't be there anymore. No Mediterranean Sea +25 million years from now! Between then and now we will have a lot of unavoidable (very heavy) earthquakes, floods, and other disasters. Around AD 25.002.023 the highest mountain on planet Earth will no longer be the Mount Everest. Where exactly will that mountain rize? Shouldn't we be looking for a new name for it? Do you have a suggestion(s)? Will people then (if any left) also climb mountains?

The Museum of Broken Relationships (here). How ... - yes, what? It's a global project on the internet where everyone can put his/ her own pin, picture and story of a broken ship / relationship. There are also two physical musea. One in Zagreb and one in LA. How cool that there is a place where one can share that what is broken. A place of thinking, commemorating and contemplating. A place where the balance can be drawn up. (Being in imbalance is also a balance.) And I? I don't know. I don't believe in endings ... every ending is a new beginning. I believe in fading away slowly

In my Dutch newspaper (NRC) of today an article about 'Why does the Brit want to serve the super rich?' Quote: 

"If you look further back, two hundred years ago the British were oligarchs themselves. They were the kleptocrats of India: they robbed wealth and bought a house in Regent Square in London, joining the British elite. Just like today's international oligarchy. 

A very interesting idea for a book: "Now that I think about it, this is a good idea for a book. The history of stealing money and thereby gain status, as British and Dutch pirates once did with the Spaniards.""

I can't wait!

What Is the Question?

 

What is the value added from a neutrino? They pass through planet Earth and other normal matter unimpeded and undetected.

What is the value added from a higgs boson? They are very unstable and decay into other particles almost immediately.  They live even shorter than a mayfly (in Dutch: one day fly).  

The 'Higgs particle' is also called the 'God Particle'. Every day we encounter the Universe in which we live. If that is the answer or the final, intermediate, initial or ... (there must be more) result. What then is the question?
